Description
This tells the story of a small, rural railway station from the time of its building as part of the new Midland Railway line from Nottingham to Melton Mowbray to its modern incarnation as a family run restaurant.
The station served three local communities, Plumtree, Keyworth and Normanton-on-the-Wolds and had an influence on all of them, but particularly Keyworth, where several of the railway workers came to live. The author points out it also influenced a new housing development at Plumtree Park and she talks about the navvies who built the railway and describes the station buildings and those who worked there. 76pp b/w photos
