FOCUS ON LOCAL AUTHOR, ALAN DANCE

ALAN DANCE

Alan Dance was born in Nottingham in 1946 and attended Nottingham Boys High School.  He spent most of his working life in the rail industry.
He lives in Chilwell,  hence his first published book was a non-fiction local history book, The Chilwell Ghost – A New Investigation, first published in 1998, but which has been reprinted several times since.

Alan has always had an interest in history, particularly the local history of Nottinghamshire in the early nineteenth century,  and this shines through in his writing.
His first fictional work, Narrow Marsh  is set in the slums of Nottingham in the early 1800s and has been a best seller since it was published in 2008, while its sequel, Leen Times  has been just as popular.
These were followed by The Westbrook Affair set in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire in the mid-nineteenth century, and which chronicles the lives of families from opposite ends of the social divide. It is a gripping story of poverty and wealth, betrayal and greed and ultimately the search for justice and the truth.

We have this on a very special offer of £5 off to give you a flavour of Alan’s writing.
