Description
The Nottingham Canal connected the Cromford Canal, Derbyshire, with the River Trent at Nottingham, providing a route to market for coal, limestone and other goods. It opened in 1796 and was fourteen and three quarter miles long. The northern section from Langley Mill to Lenton closed in 1928 and was abandoned in 1937, while the section trough Nottingham City is now part of the Trent Navigation.
This pictorial guide covers the history of the six-mile section from Trent Bridge to Wollaton. 61pp, illus.
