Description
In 1959 a collection of over two hundred wax seals dating to the Georgian and early Victorian periods was discovered in the attic of the Lion Hotel, Belper. Recent research has revealed the identities of about a third of those represented in the collection, amongst them cotton merchants, textile manufacturers, politicians and close associates of some well known people like Florence Nightingale, Charles Darwin and Lord Byron, all of which is documented here. 152pp, illus.
