In 1891 a young textile worker called Herbert Kilpin left Nottingham to work in Italy, never to return to his homeland. He founded AC Milan in his adopted land and led the football club to its first three championship titles. Yet Kilpin died in obscurity in 1916 while AC Milan went on to become one of the most successful club sides in the world of football.
