Description
The impact of a large military presence in a North Nottinghamshire community.
Clipstone Camp was one of a number of new camps specially erected to accommodate men of the new armies raised by Lord Kitchener. The building of the camp had a big impact on the environment and local people, while the war itself affected production in the industries of Mansfield, stopped the sinking of Clipstone Colliery and delayed the completion of the Mansfield Railway. A detailed study with numerous illustrations and photographs. Large format, 148pp
