This site is dedicated to books relating to Nottinghamshire - books about the county, its towns and people, books written by Nottinghamshire authors and books produced by our own publishing arm, Bookcase Editions, all with a local connection.

Alan Sillitoe, who came from a working class Nottingham family, wrote over 50 books; novels, short story collections, travel works, poetry collections, plays and screenplays, but he remains best known for his first two works: the novel Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (1958) and the short story collection that had as its title story The Loneliness of The Long Distance Runner (1959).

Now a new anthology has been published of work inspired by Alan Sillitoe, edited by his son, David, along with Neil Fulwood.

More Raw Material seeks to celebrate Alanís creative diversity, the importance of his home town, and the spirit of his work.

It contains personal reminiscences, essays, short stories, poems and travel writing from a host of contributors, some well-known and some up-and-coming, all paying tribute to one of Nottinghamshire's great authors.

Paperback £9

All proceeds from the sale of this anthology go to the Alan Sillitoe Memorial Fund.

We believe we have the best collection of Nottinghamshire books in print, but if we haven't listed what you want, please don't hesitate to contact us.
